When purchasing a home, you need every financial advantage to ensure the investment you're making is a good one. When you purchase a home with a down payment of more than 20%, you avoid a monthly Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) payment. Over the course of home ownership, this can result in substantial savings.

NeighborWorks® Rochester currently works with First Niagara Bank to offer a program allowing you to take advantage of this savings. Give us a call to get more details.

What makes your community great? Healthy Blocks is an initiative working to improve transitional neighborhoods within the City of Rochester. NeighborWorks® Rochester collaborates with homeowners, landlords, tenants and area businesses within targeted neighborhoods to engage people in activities that strengthens community spirit.

Do you have expertise in a specific industry that can help us achieve our goals? On a monthly basis, community members give their time to collaborate with staff members on different projects and initiatives focused on our mission.

Save Money & Energy

We have trained staff to evaluate where your best opportunities to save money can be found and suggest ways you can improve the energy efficiency and air quality within your home.

Green Jobs Green New York (GJGNY)Energy Assessment

NYSERDA’s GJGNY program provides a no cost energy assessment to households earning less than $137,000 gross per year. The assessment is 1-2 hours and evaluates the entire house for its energy efficiency. Insulation, appliances, furnace and air leaks are all considered during the assessment. A report is then generated that identifies the most cost effective energy improvements for your home.

EmPower Energy Services Program

The EmPower New York program offers no-cost energy services for income-qualified homeowners and tenants. The program is funded through the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) under an agreement with the New York State Department of Public Service. Services may include:
Replacement of old, inefficient appliances.
Installation of high-efficiency lighting.
Tips on how to save energy.
In limited situations - insulation and other home efficiency measures.

Assisted Home Performance with Energy Star (AHP) Program

Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR provides income-eligible New Yorkers with an Assisted Subsidy up to 50% of approved improvments, which can result in substantial savings. In addition to the subsidy, low-interest financing is available to cover the balance of any such project.

Please give us a call at (585) 325-4170 for more information on any one of our home energy services.
